So, I just recently launched my book at the beginning of July. The product has already won awards and that was before I started the real editing and chiseling away to reveal the deeper theme. The hardest part about this is getting your product out there, in the hands of those who can turn clicks into sales. Because at the end of the day the goal is to do this for a living, am I right?

I decided to publish my first book with Amazon Unlimited. There’s plenty of reasons why I chose to do this, but for me it’s more important to get my product out there than it is to make money at this point. I figure if I focus on delivering a quality product, and advertise that product, then the sales will take care of themselves. An analogy I use is that it’s like I’ve got a bunch of kindling wood. It’s good wood, but I still need to get this thing caught on fire. So, I need to add a spark, then try to get some smoke rolling, add another spark here and there and eventually this thing will be on fire. Check out my article on Kindle Unlimited here:

At least, that’s the plan, but obviously things change. Expanding the text: So, I just recently launched my book at the beginning of July. The product has already won awards and that was before I started the real editing and chiseling away to reveal the deeper theme. The hardest part about this whole process is getting your product out there, in the hands of those who have the ability to convert clicks into successful sales. Because ultimately, the ultimate objective is to pursue this as a full-fledged career, wouldn’t you agree?

I made the decision to publish my very first book through Amazon Unlimited. There are countless reasons why I opted for this platform, but for me, the paramount objective is to ensure maximum visibility for my product before focusing on financial gain. I am of the belief that by prioritizing the delivery of a top-notch product and implementing effective marketing strategies, the sales will effortlessly fall into place. To elucidate, I often liken this process to having a stack of high-quality kindling wood. While it possesses immense potential, I still need to ignite it properly. Therefore, by adding an initial spark and subsequently igniting a steady blaze, it is plausible that my work will garner an abundance of attention and

Anyway, my first idea was to test the Writers Warmth package of $38. That includes having my book cover and an excerpt (which I wrote myself) permanently hosted on their website. Why did I choose them? Because Instagram is where I’ve done most of my advertising as of now. They have a following of 3.3 million people and I timed it out with an Amazon promotion which dropped my book to free and I’d still get paid on the royalties.

The Results?

Overnight, my book cover got 14,500 likes. My inbox was flooded with ads from other Instagram pages and book reviewers of the like, and let’s be honest, most of them are small businesses trying to do the same thing as I am. They’re building their business brick by brick and utilizing Writers Warmth as a way to target leads.

I increased my Instagram followers by about 25-30 new followers. My ads that I’m running on YouTube got more traffic and it resulted in a small spike in sales.

Here’s what I learned:

It’s easy for someone to hit the like button, but it takes a lot more commitment for someone to actually jump from Instagram onto your website or your book’s Amazon page because you’re asking for money. I also learned that each social media platform is used differently, so the content you post and the way in which you advertise it also has to be different. Additionally, it’s important to understand that building a successful business on social media requires consistent effort and patience.

My Next Strategy:

I figure it’s probably smarter for me to get my ads in front of people who are in the process of looking for their next book, so I’m going to learn about Amazon Ads and try to run a promotion using their method. I will explore different advertising strategies to effectively reach my target audience. Once I have gained sufficient knowledge and implemented the ad campaign, I will post a detailed article that summarizes what I have learned and shares my experience with others. Sharing my insights and experiences will not only benefit other authors but also contribute to the overall growth of the publishing industry.
